A la séance du Conseil général de la Commune (8 Mars), le maire déclara vacantes les chaires des premier et troisième régents du Collège et demanda s'il y avait lieu de procéder immédiate ment à la nomination de leurs successeurs. Il fut délibéré qu'à cette époque, où le Gouvernement préparait un code d'éducation nationale, il semblait peu opportun de faire des élections défini tives. Après avoir entendu les conclusions du procureur, on décida que Trupel, second régent, remplirait provisoirement les fonctions de Principal et qu'il serait aidé par un ou deux profes scurs-adjoints, ecclésiastiques ou laïques, que le Conseil agréerait sur la présentation de Trupel.
