Nous avions le percepteur, un fort galant homme, ruiné depuis longtemps par les révolutions,à ce qu'il disait; mais beaucoup de gens assuraient que les ca tastrophes politiques ne lui avaient été que des dettes. Une dame créole, belle, gracieuse, toute charmante une jeune femme triste et malade, et un avocat à la cour royale de Nimes, complétaient notre petit cercle.
