Excerpt from Robin's Recruit
Corrigan to the captain. I reckon he'll prove troublesome.
But let us begin at the very beginning, on the morning when Robin first saw Doogan among the recruits.
The children were standing near the building called headquarters, which fronted the north side of the parade ground. Guard-mount was just over, and the bugler's last notes were piercing the air as the bandsmen marched away to their quarters. Some recruits who had been brought to Fort Carey the previous night were now waiting at headquarters to be assigned to the different companies, and the children were discussing the appearance of the men.
