This 1978 Directory of State and County Officials continues a new format which we in the Publications Division of the Department of the Secretary of State began with our 1977 Directory. All mailing addresses outside of North Carolina are given in their entirety; those inside the State will have NC omitted. An address within a county will not have the municipality given unless it is different from the county seat. All telephone numbers for State governmental agencies in Raleigh carry a 733 prefix this prefix was changed effective January 15 of 1977. In this directory only the last four digits of these numbers will be given. Numbers in other areas of the State are listed in their entirety. An asterisk beside any telephone number or head ing indicates that number is within the 704 area code, We invite any comments as to further improvements we could make or information which might be included. Any personnel, address, telephone number or organizational change will be corrected in our 1979 Directory.
