Microwave systems frequently employ numerical apertures which are considerably larger than those encountered in systems transmitting light, and it is not always clear to what extent the usual methods can be used with confidence e0l Bachynski and Bekefi, Moreover, in microwave optics the knowledge of the state of polarization of the image field is of direct interest.
