Excerpt from Discourses on Christian Doctrine
In some of the discourses I had occasion to investigate the views of others but I have endeavored to do it impartially, and. In a Christian spirit. I have labored to speak the truth in love.
The character of Christ, and the great work which he came to accomplish, has long been a subject of study With me, and I now give to the public the result of my labors. I do not claim perfection. I have only presented in these discourses what I believe to be nearer the truth than any thing I have ever seen. I am only a learner in the school of Christ. I do not wish to speak dogmatically, Where the greatest and best minds that ever adorned the Church have differed. I only desire to lead men to the investigation of divine truth, and to the recep tion of the Spirit of Christ.
