Le Livre peut être regardé comme la suite des Leçons sur les fonctions entières de M. Borel. Il en diffère toutefois à quelques points de vue. Car tandis que le Livre de M. Borel a, en général, le caractère et le style d'un Traité destiné à rendre accessibles aux étudiants les résultats de recherches nombreuses disséminées dans les périodiques, j'ai dû rédiger mon Volume plutôt en forme de Mémoire. En effet, le domaine de l'ordre infini n'a pas attiré beaucoup de cher cheurs, de sorte que le contenu de ce Livre est, presque entièrement, inédit. J'espère toutefois qu'un lecteur con naissant les Fonctions entières de M. Borel n'aura pas de peine à suivre mon exposition.
