Però, non ostante le difficoltà incontrate per ispiegare la na tura e l' estensione dell' inconscio, perchè questo esame, come quello della coscienza, sorpassa il limite di ogni esperienza pos sibile, lo studio di questo problema ha arricchito la psicologia contemporanea di risultati e di scoperte, come non si era cer tamente abituati nei secoli scorsi, quando fioriva soltanto la psicologia così detta classica o della vecchia scuola. Basti pen sare che i tentativi per dimostrare questo problema, se non sono riusciti finora a scioglierlo, in una maniera più o meno adeguata, ci hanno messo in grado di formarci un' idea, più rispondente alla realtà. Dei fatti, dei fenomeni psichici in genere e della coscienza in particolare.
