Wie wenig Sicheres wir über die Anfänge von Gutenbergs Kun[i wilfen, das zeigt nur allzu deutlich ein Vergleich der Ergebnill'e der vorliegenden Veröffentlichung mit der kurz zuvor erlä1ienonen Schrift Otto Rupp'a ‚gutenbergs er[ie Drucke, auf die id! Natürlich nicht mehr Bezug nehmen konnte. Im Streit der Meinungen wird wohl auch auf diefem fo dunkeln Gebiet einmal fe[ierer Boden gewonnen werden. In diefem Sinne fördert, hoffe ich, ebenfo meine Arbeit wie die zu ganz anderen Refultaten gelangte Unter fudtung Hupp's die der gutenberg-forlihung ge[tollten Aufgaben und Ziele.
