Le livre que nous présentons aujourd'hui au public est la suite d'une idée qui, dans un ouvrage précédemment publié, avait été appliquée à l'étude de la structure et des fonctions du corps humain Ce qui consti tuait l'originalité de l'ouvrage auquel nous faisons allusion, c'était le mode de représentation des différents organes. Les planches, découpées et super posées, permettaient, ainsi que nous le disions dans la préface, de faire de la grosse anatomie, pour ainsi dire en chambre, et d'étudier la forme et les rapports des organes sans avoir de sujet à sa disposition. L'idée, tout en n'étant pas absolument nouvelle, est néanmoins précieuse pour l'étude. Il suffit de soulever, comme les feuillets d'un livre, les divers plans on enlève les muscles, on arrive aux couches profondes, et on parvient ainsi jusqu'au squelette.
