Si j'ai aujourd'hui la bonne fortune de pouvoir combler cette lacune, tout l'honneur en doit être attribué à M. Louis Le Poit tevin, fils d'alfred, qui a bien voulu me communiquer les papiers de son père et m'autoriser a en faire usage. Lui - même, conscient de l'importance de ces manuscrits, avait plusieurs fois songé à les publier. Des écrivains contemporains, informés de ce projet, l'avaient appuyé de leurs conseils éclairés mais les circonstances s'étaient toujours opposées à son exécution. Je n'ai eu d'autre mérite que de me présenter, par hasard, a une époque où tout obstacle ayant disparu, l'intention de M. Louis Le Poittevin devenait réalisable. Je lui suis profondément reconnaissant de la confiance qu'il m'a accordée en me jugeant digne de remplir cette pieuse mission, et je le remercie de l'ac oneil si cordial que dès le premier jour j'ai reçu de lui.
