Les documents que j'ai pu me procurer au cours de deux voyages dans le Coromandel et le Sind, les objets faisant partie des musées de Paris, des collections de personnes amies ou des miennes, m'ont permis de donner des figures pour la plu part inédites, dans la série des petits objets. Ce sont aussi ceux que l'on voit le moins souvent, leur valeur médiocre,'leur simplicité, ne les désigne pas à l'attention des grands amateurs. Et il n'y a pas à Paris de musée indien. Si jamais il s'en fonde un, ce petit livre aura au moins cette utilité de pouvoir servir de rade mecum.
