Herr Professor Klein regte daher, nachdem ich, als früherer Schuler von Herrn Professor A. Markoff, über dessen Werk referiert hatte, den Gedanken an, dies Buch in deutscher Ubersetzung erscheinen zu lassen. Vom mathematischen Verein an der Georgia Augusta in diesem Gedanken bestärkt, sprach ich noch im vorigen Jahre, bei meinem Aufenthalt in St. Petersburg, hierüber mit Herrn Professor Markoff; ich erhielt von ihm die Erlaubnis zur Übersetzung, wofür ich Herrn Professor Markoff auch an dieser Stelle meinen wärmsten Dank ausspreche.
