Die Angriffe auf den Talmud sind so zahlreich, daß M. Steinschneider mit Recht eine Monographie die biblio graphisch und sachlich die Werke, die solche Angriffe enthalten oder widerlegen aufzählt, und den Inhalt dieser Schriften genau behandelt (h. B. XX], 39) verlangte. Diese 'mittelalterlichen Anfeindungen haben aufgehört, aber die Verkennung des Talmuds dauert fort und jeder der unpar telisch auch im Talmud und bei den Rabbinen irgend etwas schön und lobenswert findet, macht auf die heutigen Beurteiler den Eindruck wie W. Nowack einst gelegent lich der Besprechung von Wünsches Skizze der Talmud geschrieben hat (jen. Literaturzeit. 1879. Nr. 27 s. 369) als hätte er unter der (zensur eines jüdischen Traktat vereins geschrieben.
