Excerpt from Bulletin of the New York Public Library, 1903, Vol. 7
I should be fortunate enough ever to see London again, I shall most ardently obey the injunction of your last Letter, leave new-burlington-street behind me, 81 hasten away to 'soho Square. But this is an happiness of which I now almost despair. The Americans, elated with success, will resist more vigorously than ever; St we must get more wisdom 8: more strength before we can subdue them. Unless some fortunate event should unexpectedly deliver me from my present comfortless situation, I am not likely to behold the stately towers that adorn the Thames, till my eyes are too dim to be feasted with the spectacle.
