At length, I became acquainted with Dr. Barber, and took some lessons of him, upon Steele's rhythmical sys tem. In many respects, he was the best reader, to whom I had ever listened; and, his pupils, generally, improved greatly in power of voice. He did not, however, confine himself, in all cases, to his own marking of the rhythm.
