Excerpt from The Living History Classroom: Fall, 2002
After Governor Tryon was dressed, his secretary, a man who helped him with the duties of government, might come up to his bedchamber. Breakfast was served about 8 in the morning in the bedchamber to the governor and his wife. The secretary would have had his breakfast earlier in the morning. He would never expect to eat with the governor.
