The originator says: The handsome appearance of this distinct new Beet is well represented in the illustration herewith. The roots are of a neat turnip shape, with smooth skin and deep blood-red flesh, of rich tender quality. It is ready to use very early, growing as quickly as does the Egyptian, while it does not become coarse and stringy as does that variety when of large size.
