Excerpt from A Compendium of the Law of Evidence
The Author has long been aware that the Index and Table of Contents of the former Editions were too general to afford that ready reference which the hurry of N isi Prius so particularly requires. To remedy this defect 'itn entire new Index and Table of Contents have been made, of such size and particularity, that it is confidently hoped no future inconvenience will be experienced on that account.
The paging of the second Edition has also been preserved by a figure in the margin and although a very large quantity of new matter has been added in the present Edition, yet, by printing in a closer type, the Work has been brought into a smaller compass than the last Edition. To the younger student who may wish to read, this will probably be no inconvenience and to those whose experience renders nothing more than an occasional reference necessary, the Author hopes that any small inconvenience which may be felt on account of the closeness of the letter, will be more than compen sated by bringing the work into a portable size.
