About the commencement of the present century two master spirits arose, Who by systematizing their observa tions, were enabled to present to the world, a correct doc trine of mental phenomena, to Which they gave the name Phrenology. This name they chose to distinguish it from all other systems of mental Philospophy. It is derived from two Greek words (phren and a doctrine concerning the phenomena of mind.
