It is plain, from this statement, that if the Legislative Council had known of the grave charges intended to be so suddenly preferred against them to His Majesty, they could have entered npon no effec tual vindication of their proceedings, during the few hours of the Session that remained, without depriving themselves of the opportunity of considering the most important'measures of'the Session, and without ex posing the public almost certainly to any evils that might result from their being lost.
