Practically all the negro farm operators in the United States are located in the 16 Southern States. The census of 1920 enumerated more than negro farmers operating approximately 000 acres of improved land in farms. In an effort to do more effective demonstration work among this large racial group of farmers, there has been slowly developed in most of these States an auxiliary exten sion force composed of negro men and women agents, working ex elusively among people of their own race.
