Excerpt from Collected Studies From the Research Laboratory, Department of Health, New York City, 1905, Vol. 1
In the research laboratory of the Department of Health Dr. Poor has corroborated the work of others in regard to the presence and specific nature of these bodies in fixed and stained sections from the nerve cen ters in cases of rabies, and, for some time, has used the section method for diagnosis. By this method, however, it is impossible to make the diagnosis before 24 hours, and no one, so far as known, has published a much shorter way of demonstrating the bodies satisfactorily.
