Excerpt from Le Positivisme d'Auguste Comte

This book analyzes the work of Auguste Comte, a 19th-century philosopher and mathematician who is widely credited with developing the ideology of positivism and the discipline of sociology. The book delves into Comte's philosophical ideas, focusing on the methodology he proposed for studying social phenomena and his belief that all knowledge should be derived from scientifically observable facts. The author also explores Comte's utopian vision for a society governed by scientific principles and his later turn towards a religion of humanity. By examining the evolution of Comte's thought, the book sheds light on the origins of sociology and the enduring influence of positivism on social and intellectual history.
