Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes 4-H Club work, a national program which has been highly influential in educating rural youth in agriculture and home economics since the 1920s. The author examines data collected from hundreds of 4-H Club members, former members, and non-members to determine which factors have the greatest influence on whether or not a child joins a 4-H Club. The author finds that children whose parents are more involved in the community, both socially and professionally, are more likely to join 4-H Clubs. Surprisingly, the author also finds that the popularity of 4-H Clubs varies widely across socioeconomic backgrounds: children from wealthier families are more likely to join than children from poorer families. The book concludes by suggesting that there is more that 4-H Club leaders can do to make the organization more welcoming to all rural youth, including those from less affluent backgrounds or whose parents are less active in community life. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9780266082415_0
