Ivsirie du Chien is the oldest settlement in Wisconsin It existed as a village at the time of the French and Indian wars. Its traditions are manifold. Jhere it was that Jeff Davis, a dashing young lieutenant, won Gen. Taylor's daughter against her father's will. Old Fort crawb ford has served as a quarry to such.an extent that at present there are only a few stones left to mark the old Site.
