IN introducing this maiden literary effort to my readers, I think it will not be out of place to state how it came to be attempted.
During my year of office as Master of the Founders' Company I was, through a mutual friend, introduced to Mr. North, whose demise in the midst of much unfinished work relating to bells is a loss which can hardly be too greatly estimated or grieved for.
