Excerpt from Carteret County, Overall Economic Development Plan: February, 1963
At a general meeting of the Carteret County Planning Commission and the County Development Committee on February 12, 1962, the County Planning Commission was designated the organization primarily respon sible for local area development and preparation of an Overall Economic Development Program. It was also decided to utilize the County Development Committee as a special advisory group to the Planning Commission on area development problems. Present at the meeting were representatives of the Governor, the State Department of Conservation and Development, and the Federal Area Redevelopment Administration.
