Excerpt from Catalogue of Rare and Fine Old English Porcelains and Pottery, Collected by the Well-Known Amateur Mr. Horace Townsend: Consisting of an Unusually Interesting Gathering of Lustred Leeds and Staffordshire Ware, an Extensive Collection of Early Staffordshire Toby Pitchers (Recently Acquired From a Well-Known English Dealer), Figures and Groups in Lustred and Painted Pottery
Other examples of lustred ware to which I may direct atten tion include those of Sutherland purple and pink lustre, among which are the celebrated figures of the Seasons, a completeset of which is held to be of exceeding rarity. Then, too, will be found the solid silver and copper lustred Tea Services and Pitchers.
