Self-control and self-reliance are the begin nings of practical wisdom. True strength springs from the mastery of self which, with self-reliance, equips and sustains us for the trials that life compels us to endure. But self is every one 's own worst enemy. Therefore, he who would become a power in Practicality must first become master of himself. He must dominate self before he can hope to dominate others. To point out how to do this, and how to benefit thereby is another of the tasks undertaken by the Author.
