Rather than narrating a history of WWII, each of the 11 volumes is devoted to a single offensive (they are the Ebro, Poland, Operation Compass, France in 1940, Tobruk, Operation Barbarossa, Dieppe, St Nazaire, Kursk, Arnheim, and Bagration). Each author describes the events leading to the battle, the strategies of both sides, the composition of the armed forces involved, the details of the campaign, and the battlefield today. Some volumes include a section for wargaming the campaign. The volumes include detailed color maps, tables of the order of battle, a chronology, a list of further reading, and copious period photographs. Praeger's Illustrated Military History Series, which will comprise a number of such sets as this, will be a useful resource for college students and all interested in military history. These volumes are reprints of books published originally by Osprey Publishing Ltd in the UK between 1991 and 2003. Each is 96 pages. The volumes are also available individually.
