Excerpt from Zu Jean Paul
Die wichtigste Quelle fur die wichtigste Periode im Leben Jean Pauls ist sein 1829 - 1833 in 4 Bänden erschienener Briefwechsel mit seinem Freunde Christian Otto (berlin, G. Reimer). Durch die Güte des Herrn Major Brix Förster in München sowie des Herrn Hausmarschall Grafen Wedel in Weimar sind mir die Originale von Jean Pauls Briefen die von Otto kommen nicht in Betracht zugänglich gemacht worden. Ein Vergleich derselben mit dem gedruckten Texte er giebt jedoch so viele und so auffällige Differenzen, dafs eine Zusammenstellung der wichtigsten nicht überflüssig erscheinen durfte. In Band XLVI. Heft 138 von „nord und Süd hat Herr Major Förster bereits einige dieser Briefe von neuem abdrucken lassen; diese Neudrucke ergänzen das folgende Verzeichnis.
