Excerpt from Answer to Hugh Miller and Theoretic Geologists
Land was made (which included all the present rock formations mainly in their present shape), or were made out of order in the fourth, fifth or sixth days, in a way, and by miraculous means, only known to the Creator, and in violation Of all known natural laws. For if this present organization was made, as stated by Moses, in successive days, each day's work being necessary for that Of the next, and the work as stated was done by classes and kingdoms, and each kingdom was wholly introduced at the time therein stated, it would be a violation Of that law Of introduction to make part Of a kingdom on one day and part on the next, particularly when an additional miracle would have to be performed, as in the placement of fossils in the solid rocks after they were once made.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the growing conflict between biblical Christian faith and a geological faith, as represented by the writings of Hugh Miller. Miller's theories about the succession of earth's creations, while popularly presented as coincident with scripture, undermined the accepted Mosaic account of the earth's creation by asserting that geological fossil forms preceded the existence of vegetable or animal life. The author maintains that this and other tenets of the geological faith are in direct conflict with the biblical account, which holds that the creation of earth and all within it took place over a period of six days. The author posits, drawing on his own knowledge of mineralogy and related sciences, that the fossil kingdom is a distinct kingdom with its own laws of reproduction and an existence independent of that of plants or animals. He concludes by asserting that the fossil kingdom, the same as all other kingdoms, must have had a beginning, as no other kingdom had an exception to being created by the "'at law' of God," including the air and water we know today.
