Excerpt from Numerical Design of Transonic Cascades
The method developed by Bauer, Garabedian, and Korn [2] for the design of wing sections which exhibit shock-free flow at high subsonic speeds has been applied to the problem of cascade design. A cascade is a periodic dis tribution of two dimensional blade cross sections which serves as a basis for the design of axial flow compressors and turbines.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book focuses on the application of numerical methods to the design of transonic turbine and compressor blades in axial flow turbomachinery. It extends the application of conjugate characteristic coordinates to the design of cascades that was developed for the design of airfoil in an earlier book by the same author. Historical context is provided for numerical design going back to the 1960s. The approach builds on previous work in order to further the development of numerical design techniques for use in engineering. Concepts presented include the method of complex extension and the selection of characteristic coordinates for use in both sub and supersonic flow. The insights provided by this book contribute to the body of knowledge available to engineers working with turbomachinery to improve the efficiency of products like airplanes, cars, and power plants.
