With a View to prepare himfelf for the tranflation of Callimachus, Dr. Tytler compared every line of the Iliad with Mr. Pope's tranflation, whereby he put himfelf in a congenial train for undertaking to do juf'tice to Callimachus, and meditating a tranflation of Lucretius; he meant to have done the fame by the Ge'orgics of Virgil and Mr. Dryden.
