Excerpt from The Will: Its Structure and Mode of Action

This essay was written during the summer of 1891, while I was a student in the University of Berlin, and presented to the Faculty of Cornell University as a thesis for the doc torate in the spring of 1892. At that time I hoped to be able to return to the subject and make what I had done the basis for a more extensive investigation. The press of other engagements and duties has, however, prevented me from carrying out this plan, and the essay is now published in the form in which it was first written. I have added one or two foot-notes while reading the proofs, but made no other altera tions, though if I were writing today I should doubtless lay diflerent emphasis upcn certain points.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the concept of human volition, examining the mental experiences and processes involved in the exercise of our willpower. The author argues that willing is not a separate faculty of the mind, but rather an activity of the self that is intimately connected with attention and cognition. The book traces the development of will from its early, instinctive manifestations to its more complex, deliberate forms, arguing that voluntary acts are the result of a process of selection and evaluation. The author also discusses the relationship between inner and outer acts of will, and the role of attention in the control of our thoughts and actions. This book offers a comprehensive and insightful analysis of a fundamental aspect of human psychology, providing a deeper understanding of the nature of will and its role in our lives. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9780282398712_0
