Excerpt from The Mode and Subjects of Baptism: Two Discourses Delivered Before the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, North Carolina, on Sunday, September 10, 1843
It is my purpose on the present occasion to show that immersion is the only christian baptism, and that it is contrary to all true eriti. Cism, and to the plain word of God, to introduce sprinkling, or pour. Mg, or anything else' into the place of immersion. And if I can prove th1s position, if I can convince you of its truth, I will call upon all believers here present, (who have not submitted to the ordinance,) in the language of my text, why tarriest thou? Arise and be baptised.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the evidence for and against the long-standing practice of infant baptism within Christian denominations. The author presents a deeply researched examination of the Greek word "baptizo", widely used in the New Testament and early Christian writings, and argues that its consistent meaning is to immerse. They support this by referencing Greek dictionaries, the writings of Christian scholars through history, and the practice of Eastern Orthodox and non-European Christian communities. The author questions the origin of infant sprinkling, arguing that it developed from a misunderstanding of baptism as a regenerating sacrament. This thought-provoking work challenges Christian denominations to reconsider their practices in light of the historical evidence, and to return to the original form of baptism as practiced by Christ and the apostles.
