Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the causes of teeth and jaw irregularities, along with methods developed by the author in the late 1800s, for addressing them. It begins with a historical look at people's beliefs about what caused these conditions from the time of Hippocrates to the author's era. Where historically people believed that the cause was solely due to secondary factors such as diet, thumb sucking and accidents, the author advocated for a more holistic view of examining both internal and external factors, and his ideas have greatly influenced the research and treatment of dental conditions to this day. Not only is the book a fascinating study of dental history, but it also provides a deep dive into the mechanics of the development and movement of teeth and jaws, that could be of interest to scholars and laypeople alike.
