Excerpt from The Measurement of Electric Currents: Electrical Measuring Instruments; Meters for Electrical Energy
The object of both of the valuable papers presented before the Institution of Civil Engineers included in this volume is to te view the advances made of late years in the production of what may be termed commer cial instruments for measuring commercial currents. In other words, the authors de vote their attention to the instruments having more or less of practicability to recommend them for the work of recording station output and securing station income. More than one class of apparatus is neces sarily embraced within such a survey, and the paper by Mr. Swinburne is laudably comprehensive, there being in it a descrip tion in some detail, or a broad generaliza tion that covers its principle, of well nigh every instrument that the electrical engineer cares to know anything about.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces a range of recently developed devices, instruments and techniques that have been designed specifically for commercial use in the burgeoning electrical engineering sector. The need for these new tools has arisen as the field has diverged from the methodologies of experimental and laboratory physics. These user-friendly, direct-reading instruments addressed the need for devices which would not be adversely affected by changes in temperature or external magnetic fields, and could be easily used in commercial installations. The book provides comprehensive insight into the theory, design and practical use of a wide range of instruments, including voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, and meters. By detailing the precise technical requirements of a range of important applications, and explaining how specific instruments have been developed to meet these needs, this book provides vital guidance for professionals operating in the electrical engineering sector, from designers to plant managers. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
