Excerpt from Corneille Inconnu

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a compelling critique of prevailing ideas about Pierre Corneille and his work. It challenges the long-held view that his literary output was uneven, with the majority of his works considered inferior to a small canon of masterpieces. The author examines Corneille's complete works, including those typically dismissed, to argue that this perception of his career is deeply flawed. Detailed analysis of Corneille's often-overlooked works reveals undiscovered depth, range, and innovation. By situating Corneille within his socio-historical context and carefully examining his ideas and artistic process, the book offers a fresh perspective on his genius and explores his multifaceted contributions to French literature and theatre. Ultimately, it presents a more accurate and nuanced understanding of this towering figure in the history of drama.
