Repetitus denuo in lucem emitteretur verum quoniam conditio atque forma illins ea erat, quae melioris emen datiorìsque moveret desiderium, hunc mihi laborem su mendam esse existimavi, ut contextus ad ndem bonorum librorum castigatus, conformatus mendisque quam maxime purgatus et, quantum pro subsidiorum ratione fieri posset, integritati suse restitutus exhiberetur. Quem in finem, conquisitis undique et collatis inter se optimis quot quot mihi innotuerunt editionibus aliisque multis quae textus rationibus ullo modo profore viderentur, subsidiis strenue impigteque rem aggressus molestia plenissimam, post exhaustos multos labores id effecisse tandem mihi videor, ut infiniti sint paene scriptoris nostri loci in hac sive recognitione sive recensione quos ex scriptorum exemplarium veterumque, quae cx illis fluxerunt, editio num auctoritate emendare et restituere mihi licuerit, atque textus iam repraasentetur lectoribus immane quan tum diversus a vulgari atque ut ego quidem spero, emendatior et purior coque ipso magis perspicuus. Perspicuitati autem etiam mutata in melius distinctione, pravissima quidem illa locis hand paucis, prospexisse mihi vldeor. Simul hoc dedi operam, ut editionibns veteribus accurate inter se collatis, unde cuiusque textus ductus esset undeque lectio quaeque fluxisset, ostenderem. Praeterea exceptis iis quae obvia in nomìnibus propriis in editionibus principe et Rhenarfiana vel pueri corri gerent peccatis omnem omnino lectionis varietatem, neque universe, sed singulis nominatis libris, ne minima quidem discrepantia neglecta, diligenter enotatam appo nere est visum ut non modo haberent lectores quod, si recepta lectio ipsis non arrideret, magis fortasse placi turum sibi ex omni copia accommodarent, sed cognosce rent quoque etiam in Iordanem quanquam plurimis scrip toribus antiquis multo inferiorem aetate, non minus.
