This book explores the consequences of the Pope potentially leaving Rome, considering the historical precedent of previous absences and the political and social implications a departure would have on Italy today. The author examines the vital role the Pope plays in Italy and Catholicism, highlighting that any departure would have lasting negative effects for both. The analysis goes beyond the purely religious dimension, delving into the profound historical, cultural, and political significance of the Pope's presence in Rome and Italy as a whole. By examining past events and current dynamics, this book sheds light on the multifaceted relationship between the papacy, Rome, and Italy, highlighting the profound impact a papal departure would have on all three.
