Compound words either appear under both constituent words, or under that which has been judged to be the most obvious word. In the majority of cases, this will be the second word.
I have made a particular point of giving every English word or expression, with its foreign equivalents, a distinct line to itself. And whenever a word is used In more senses than one, each sense is treated as a distinct word, with a separate line accordingly. The great convenience of this for purposes of reference, will soon be realised by a person who makes much use of the book.
