Excerpt from Practical Guide to Great Britain and Ireland, Vol. 2: Preparation, Cost, Routes, Sightseeing; Ireland and Scotland
The history Of Ireland is filled with legends and traditions. For centuries great tribes lived in various sections, and the stories of their mighty deeds have come down through the ages interwoven with true facts of history.
In prehistoric days a people came from the middle of Greece, and landed on the southwest coast. Together with the rude tribes they found here they made the population of the Age of Early Bronze. Next came a race from Scythia; these probably landed near Queens town, as their leader died on the hill where the town now stands. An African people followed, then some British tribes; the last of the pre historic races were the Scots.
