Excerpt from The Mistakes of Pacifism, or Why a Christian Can Have Anything to Do With War
We are further assured that the argument in favour of this doctrine, may be extended inde finitely. This is doubtless true. It is equally true of any and every species of pietism or fanaticism. Plymouth-brethrenism, Christadelphianism, Mill enarian-dawnism, Eddyism, Theosophy - to say nothing of Romanism, Calvinism, and other forms of doctrine which are utterly Opposed to Pacifism will all be found capable of indefinite extension in their arguments. We may, therefore, dismiss such a suggestion as irrelevant.

This book presents a pointed analysis of the errors of pacifism, examining its negative impact on the strength of Britain and its allies during World War 1, at a time when a deluded and aggressive Germany posed an unprecedented threat. The author argues that the pacifist doctrine, which interprets Christâs teaching in a literal and unconditional sense, is incompatible with Christian values. They maintain that the world must face facts, and that refusing to counter evil with force only serves to enable and embolden the wicked to commit atrocities. The book includes a concise history of pacifism and its proponents over the centuries. The author further contends that it is a grave error to believe that resistance to tyranny is un-Christian. They explore the ways in which pacifism weakens the resolve of nations to stand up to evil, which is a fundamental betrayal of the principles of justice and liberty that are central to Christianity. The book concludes by highlighting the significance of this perspective in understanding the complex interplay between morality, war, and the defense of civilization.
