Ce pardon et cette excuse, les documents, eux,ne les leur accordent point. Et c'est tant pis pour nous et tant mieux pour la vérité qui doit présider à ce genre de recherches. Mais entre ces deux senti ments extrêmes se trouve peut-être le juste milieu. Nous aimons autant à le croire qu'à voir le leo teur ne pas nous donner tort à cet égard.
