The beauties of the game of Draughts are so little understood in common, although the game itself is extensively used; 'and for social pastime, it having so many advantages over any other game, it was believed that a work that could make plain the principles of this interesting and scientific game, would do much to supplant in the family circle the amusement furnished by games of a less elevated character.
