Leur libre fécondité et leur prodigalité apparemment folle me troublent d'une admiration où l'étonnement tient d'abord, je le crains, plus de place que la sympathie. Je me perds aux coudes inattendus, aux brusqueries divergentes de leurs créations touffues, et je suis porté à dire, plus que mon émerveillement, mon inquiétude: Mais ce n'est qu'une question de temps et de fréquenta tion. Quand je connais enfin la forêt à demi sauvage aussi bien que le parc, je sens de combien elle est plus largement belle et plus noblement émouvante.
