Excerpt from The Design of Alternating Current Machinery
This book was written by the late Mr. James R. Barr, and was intended to be a companion volume to his book on Direct Current Electrical Engineering.
Owing to the unfortunate death Of the author, before the book was revised for publication, 1 undertook the task Of revision and correction Of the proofs. In doing so I have altered matter only where the author's meaning was not perfectly clear and where mistakes arose. References have been given where possible, and symbols arranged so that as far as possible each quantity shall have a separate one.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book, a collaborative effort between two experts in the field, provides a comprehensive exploration of the design of alternating current (AC) machinery. Published in 1913, it is a reflection of the state-of-the-art in electrical engineering at that time. The authors start by introducing the fundamental principles of AC circuits, including waveform analysis and the effects of inductance and capacitance in AC systems. They then move on to discuss the specific design challenges and techniques involved in different types of AC machinery, including transformers, alternators, rotary converters, and synchronous motors. The book concludes with a discussion of the importance of insulation and dielectric strength in AC machinery. The author's insights into the fundamental principles of AC machinery, combined with their practical knowledge of the design process, make this book a valuable resource for electrical engineers and students alike. It provides a thorough grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of AC machinery design, enabling readers to grasp the complexities of the subject and apply their knowledge in practical applications.
