Marjabelle Young Stewart's previous books include The New Etiquette, Executive Etiquette in the New Workplace, and Your Complete Wedding Planner. She appears regularly in national magazines and newspapers around the country, offering advice on gracious gift giving, dining etiquette, office and family matters, and other aspects of modern life. She lives in Kewanee, Illinois.

Elizabeth Lawrence is the author of four previous books on entertaining and style.

Stewart, the author of seven previous etiquette books, is part of the pantheon that includes Emily Post, Letitia Baldrige, and Judith Martin ("Miss Manners"). This volume presents all the guidance that we expect without being too large or intimidating. As the title indicates, Stewart anticipates that her readers will use their good sense and recognizes that the basis of etiquette is to make people feel comfortable in dealing with one another. Although she does give firm rules for such inflexible areas as table manners, she acknowledges that few of us today are confronted with dilemmas about which is the fruit fork and reassures us that minor procedural points are not of dire importance.
